A study of the relationship between Emotional Intelligence and employees' Psychological Empowerment Case study: military organization

Abstract
The present research investigated the relationship between Emotional Intelligence and Psychological Empowerment among employees of a military organization. The research was a correlational, descriptive field study. The research population included 240 tenure staff, out of whom 140 were sampled randomly. A questionnaire, based on Spritzer's Psychological Empowerment questionnaire and Mishra's, was used, totaling to 18 items. For Emotional Intelligence, Missouri’s questionnaire with 33 items was used. The reliability of instruments was approved by Chronbach alphas of %897 for Psychological Empowerment and %772 for Emotional Intelligence. The results indicated that there was a significant relationship between Emotional Intelligence and Psychological Empowerment (r=%457). as well as The findings of the study show that self-awareness, Self-regulation, and self-motivation have positively influence employees' Psychological Empowerment. In the hypothesis testing, it shows that the highest influence (r=%555) belonging to the Self-regulation dimension. but the effect of Empathy, social skills was not associated with psychological empowerment. It can be concluded that Emotional Intelligence, self-awareness, Self-regulation, and self- motivation are positively correlated with employees' Psychological Empowerment in the organization.
